With reference to the Amanat of YBhg Vice-Chancellor 2024, UNIMAS Innovation wishes to highlight the perspective of Strategic focus 2: “Research and Discovery” and the importance of research enculturation. With that, UNIMAS Innovation extends an invitation to young/new academics to apply for the Catalyst Research Grant Scheme (Catalyst).

The Catalyst incorporates fundamental and exploratory research that aims towards the generation of new knowledge, the development of intellectual level and Master postgraduate students by research, the creation of new technologies and the enrichment of research culture, that harmonise our university’s aspirations. Please note that Catalyst will supersede the existing Pilot and Postgraduate Research Grant Scheme.

1. Complete the application form via iRIS here
2. Submit the completed application to UNIMAS Innovation via your F/I
3. All applications must be vetted at F/I before submitting to UNIMAS Innovation
4. Subjected to the availability of funds at the time the UNIMAS Innovation receives the application

Details are outlined below:

• It is limited to publications in Web of Science (WOS) and SCOPUS-indexed published for year 2024;
• Papers published in the following indices only - Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and Science Citation Index (SCI);
• Priorities are for academics who are non-Principal Investigators (without research grants);
• For academics who are Principal Investigators, consideration is given to publications that are not related to an ongoing (active) research grant;
• There is a limit of three (3) times of applications submitted by an academic per year;
• Subjected to the availability of funds at the time the UNIMAS Innovation receives the application; and
• Acknowledgement of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in the manuscript.
